Amy resides in the Blue Ridge, Georgia area.
My love of cooking began as a child. I had a grandfather and an uncle who loved to cook and I spent hours watching them in the kitchen as they prepared their special recipes. My mother worked full-time and didn’t have the time or money to prepare healthy meals. So, me and my sisters took to the kitchen at a very young age and would often surprise our mom by having dinner ready when she came home.
I’ve traveled to many countries and lived abroad in Spain for eight years and that’s where my love of Spanish cooking was born.
Prior to my life in Spain I developed my own catering business. It started with desserts where I began selling cakes and other confections to five different Atlanta area restaurants. Word of mouth spread and my dessert business quickly turned into a full-fledged catering business, where I single-handedly prepared food for private parties, large weddings and on a regular basis the Georgia Bar Association. I also shared my passion for food and entertaining by teaching cooking classes.
I took first prize for my Chicken Stuffed with Goat Cheese and Basil in a Marsala Mushroom Sauce in the WSBTV Desperate Housewives recipe contest. I was also a finalist in the Food Network’s Ultimate Recipe Challenge, which aired in February 2008. The fact that I had two kids going to college within two years of each other inspired me to write a cookbook for college students called Look, Dude, I Can Cook, which Publishers Weekly featured and led to live cooking events on Good Day Atlanta and KTLA Morning News.
